Star Anise

Star Anise, whole pods of Illicium verum, the eight-point star that brings warm, sweet, licorice-like flavor to anything you brew. One pod goes a long way.

Star anise has been part of traditional Chinese and Vietnamese kitchens and herbal teas for centuries. It's a key note in pho broth, spiced teas, and slow-simmered blends, and it's the warm spice in our house tea, The Ann Arbor.

• Whole pods, not broken or powdered
• Simmer 1 pod per 16 oz of tea for 15 to 20 minutes
• Pairs well with hawthorn berry, burdock root, sarsaparilla, and hibiscus
